From Our Head of School, Patricia Kong
Welcome to Pilgrim School! Having worked at Pilgrim for over 20 years, I strongly believe in a Pilgrim education and its philosophy: where morals and values of excellence, respect, compassion, integrity, and perseverance are emphasized daily and where each student is seen, known and celebrated. Our approach to the whole child ensures that a Pilgrim graduate is an accomplished scholar, a creative and independent thinker, and an agent for creating a better world.
Pilgrim’s welcoming and inclusive community is designed to enrich and support our students’ learning and growth inside and outside of the classroom. Our extracurricular activities and programs, community service, and “no-cut” athletic program policy mean that your child feels free to explore many different activities and discover their passions.
Located in the heart of Los Angeles’ Koreatown, our student body truly reflects the city’s rich diversity. Our boarding program at The Mayflower House adds international and local boarding students to our community, allowing us to share and celebrate all of our different cultures. And beyond our beautiful campus, our students can explore the city itself as an extension of the classroom. From The California Science Center, Disney Music Hall, and MoCA downtown to the beaches out west and the mountains to our east, Pilgrim students take full advantage of the many urban resources of Los Angeles, as well as the beautiful nature of southern California.
Our students become lifelong and joyful learners. Their intellectual curiosity and academic discipline have led them to find the colleges that best suit them, including some of the world’s top colleges, universities, and art schools. But when we talk to our alumni, what we hear again and again is about the lasting friendships forged at Pilgrim, both with other students and with teachers and staff. The supportive environment that defines our school, where deep, personal connections are made, allows Pilgrim students to feel confident in expressing themselves in all aspects of their lives. It is the kind of formative experience, nurturing self-confidence and ownership over their education, that our alumni take with them to college and beyond.
I hope you will take the opportunity to come to visit us at one of our Open Houses and see for yourself what makes Pilgrim so special.
